The history of the alpine guides in Trentino began with the birth of alpinism in the Dolomites. Its protagonists are explorers from England, Germany, Austria and local mountain guides. The mountain guide's profession has been subject to changes and development. Until the end of the 18 th century they were the guides of rich aristocrats keen on granting their name to a famous peak or wall. The modern alpine guide however, is a professional with not only a profound knowledge of the manifold traditional and modern alpine techniques but is also an expert in nature, culture and history. In those days and at present, the mountain guides are the authors of national and international alpine history. The Trentino Alpine Guide Association is preparing the guides for their professional life. In Trentino 200 alpine guides are registered; they are being distributed among 12 alpine schools and/or other types of guides' associations. Practically in each valley of Trentino you can find an association of mountain guides which can provide information and advice. The alpine schools or guides' associations are offering a vast range of activities and courses which can be booked directly. With a mountain guide on your side, a day in the mountains, a simple excursion through the forests of our National Parks or a climbing tour in the Dolomites, will become an unforgettable experience. The alpine guides of Trentino are publishing an annual program offering daily or weekly excursions/events which are suitable for everyone who has already been in the mountains but is mainly addressing those who want to make first contact with them. The program includes excursions, trekking tours, climbing tours, high alpine treks, rock climbing, courses, canyoning, or excursions in the National Parks with special park guides.

Die Geschichte der Bergfuehrer des Trentino beginnt gleichzeitig mit der Entstehung des Alpinismus in den Dolomiten, dessen Protagonisten Entdecker aus England, Deutschland, Oesterreich, und auch lokale Bergfuehrer sind. Der Beruf des Bergfuehrers hat sich veraendert und weiter entwickelt. Bis ca. Ende des 18 Jh. waren sie Begleiter reicher Aristokraten, die ihren Namen einem Gipfel oder einer Wand verleihen wollten; der Bergfuehrer von heute jedoch, ist ein Professional, der am Berg nicht nur die verschiedenen technischen Disziplinen - sowohl die traditionellen, als auch die modernen - beherrscht, sondern auch die Natur, die Kultur, die Entstehungsgeschichte und das Leben in den Bergen kennt. Damals und jetzt sind die Bergfuehrer Schreiber alpiner Geschichte auf nationalem und internationalem Raum. Der Bergfuehrerverband des Trentino bildet die Bergfuehrer aus und bereitet sie auf ihre Berufslaufbahn vor. Im Trentino sind 200 Bergfuehrer im Berufsregister eingeschrieben und teilen sich auf insgesamt 12 Bergschulen oder Bergfuehrergruppen auf. Praktisch gibt es in jedem Tal des Trentino eine Bergschule und/oder eine Bergfuehrergruppe. Die jeweiligen Bergschulen erteilen Auskuenfte und Ratschlaege. Dort ist es moeglich, einen Bergfuehrer als Begleiter in die Berge bzw. Kurse oder Unterrichte des jeweiligen Angebotsprogrammes zu buchen. Mit den Bergfuehrern, den 'Bergprofis', wird ein Tag in den Bergen, eine einfache Wanderung durch unsere Naturparks, eine Klettertour, ein Kletterkurs oder ein Klettersteig in den Dolomiten, zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Die Bergfuehrer des Trentino veroeffentlichen jedes Jahr Programme mit Vorschlaegen fuer Tages-oder Wocheninitiativen, die fuer alle geeignet sind, die die Berge bereits kennen, aber hauptsaechlich diejenigen ansprechen sollen, die zum ersten Mal mit den Bergen Bekanntschaft machen. Im Angebot sind z. B. Wanderungen, Trekking, Kletter- oder Hochtourenkurse, Kletterkurse, Canyoning, Sportklettern und Wanderungen in den Naturparks mit speziell ausgebildeten Naturparkfuehrern.

La storia delle guide alpine del Trentino nasce con le origini stesse dell' alpinismo dolomitico, del quale furono protagonisti alpinisti esploratori inglesi, tedeschi ed austriaci e le Guide Alpine locali. La professione della Guida Alpina si e' trasformata ed evoluta: da accompagnatore dei ricchi aristocratici di fine '800 desiderosi di legare il proprio nome ad una cima o ad una parete, la Guida Alpina e' oggi un professionista preparato, non solo nelle diverse discipline tecniche della montagna, quelle tradizionali e quelle piu' moderne, ma anche sugli aspetti naturalistici, culturali ed etnografici della montagna e della vita dell' uomo in montagna. Inoltre le Guide Alpine hanno scritto e scrivono tuttora importanti pagine di storia dell' alpinismo sulle nostre montagne, come su tutte le montagne del mondo. L' organismo che informa, difende, abilita e prepara le Guide Alpine alla professione e' il Collegio Provinciale delle Guide Alpine del Trentino. In Trentino le Guide Alpine iscritte all' Albo sono oggi circa 200 riunite in 12 gruppi tra Scuole di alpinismo e Gruppi Guide. Praticamente in ogni valle del Trentino e' presente un Gruppo e/o Scuola di alpinismo e scialpinismo con un proprio ufficio dove e' possibile chiedere informazioni, consigli, chiedere un accompagnamento o insegnamento grazie ai corsi promossi dalle Guide Alpine. Con le Guide Alpine, i 'professionisti della montagna', una giornata in montagna, una semplice escursione tra i boschi dei nostri parchi naturali, una arrampicata nelle Dolomiti o una via ferrata, diventano esperienze indimenticabili. Ogni anno le Guide Alpine del Trentino propongono un ricco calendario di proposte e iniziative (giornaliere e settimanali) adatte a quanti la montagna la conoscono, ma piu' in particolare per quanti alla montagna si avvicinano per la prima volta. Escursioni, trekking, corsi base di roccia e alta montagna, arrampicata sportiva, escursioni di canyoning o torrentismo ma anche escursioni naturalistiche alla scoperta delle bellezze naturali dell' ambiente trentino ed in particolare dei Parchi naturali dove operano le Guide del Parco, specializzate con una preparazione specifica nelle materie naturalistiche e del territorio.
